Zeppelin didn't play the stadium.
The Stones, Floyd, U2 and Bowie have.

Found this at that web site:
The stadium is a no smoking venue, and no outside food or drink is allowed.
Poor Dean... A whole concert or football game without eating a single Big Mac...
We ALL feel sorry for your tummy...
Right, fellow sandmen (and women)?

Hmm, as a youngster I sold concessions at the stadium/arena, saw tons of bands, the two that come to mind int he stadium though were Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones. Paul McCartney was an absolutely beautiful night and by about a third of the way through I was on the floor enjoying the concert.

Paul and the Rolling Stones are my guesses, then again, I went to edgefest (the very first one) at the stadium and that was quite the show too, on the floor in the pit for nearly all of it, though musically I had seen better shows.

The absolute worst was enduring tina turner rock out whats love got to do with it, that was so bad on so many levels, I thought she was old even then probably 15 years ago, how old could she be now, still singing that crappy song probably. I remember a bunch of us would always stay for the second half of the shows/games somewhere up in the nosebleeds and shoot the sh1t and watch the show, even the ones that werent popular with the young guys crowd but absolutely none of us stayed for Tina Turner.
gack.

heh the U2 tour that went through in 1997. Many Winnipegers count that as the best concert they have ever seen in Winnipeg

The tea party played a free stage at the ex around 1994 and that was before they went mainstream, probably had about 40 instruments on stage and that, personally, was the top concert for me.

I saw beck in toronto when I was 15 in 1995 and they had probably the best stage show, far over 50 dancers and tons of 'theatrics' on stage, everything going on at once. Very good.

I sincerely wish neil young would do a tour, but skip all the new stuff and play only tunes 20 years old and older, I have a bbc broadcast where he plays guitar, piano and harmonica unplugged with no commercials and that is probably musically the best i've seen (not in person) I wish he'd do that type of show now.

Depends on what time of year it was, certainly those concerts were in the summer, had it been december though, dome would have been preferable me thinks.

Major overhauls, improvements and renovations have turned this once simple football stadium into a multi-purpose venue with 30,000 permanent seats, and the conversion capability to increase seating to 50,000+, making it the optimum host for a wide variety of events. In 2006 alone, improvements to the stadium bowl included a state of the art sound system as well as ultra modern production enhancements to the Jumbotron. Improved signage throughout the facility, and extensive painting and renovations to the concourse area and meeting spaces enhance the overall experience."

I should go back through the archives and see what the sentiment around these parts was when Point Douglas was going to be razed for the new stadium.

I liked that idea on the surface. Smile

The CFL held the Grey Cup without a dome many times. Will many many times more. And it will be held in Winnipeg the very next time the opportunity arises after the new stadium is built.

This new stadium will be the envy of the league. It'll have the concessions etc. that the Goldeyes stadium and the MTS arena have. It'll have not-nasty washrooms. Plus 80% of the seats will be protected from the elements.

Yeah!

Yes but a dome would be so nice considering Regina is looking at one and Fargo has one . Hell you are right it will be nice wonder how it may affect ticket prices

I doubt Regina will build one. I've never been to the Fargodome but I understand it is as bare bones as it gets and it holds >20k. Minneapolis is building three new stadiums. Nary a dome to be found. Most new stadiums (football and baseball) are being built in the open air.

I've attended many football and baseball games at both the Skydome and the Homerdome. I can say in my experience games held indoors do not have the same atmosphere as open air stadia. Heck they open the Skydome every single opportunity they can.

NOTHING beats the sun beading down and fresh air blowing...

A domed stadium is to an open-air field, as a garage is to a carport. Big difference...especially in our climate and with expanded usage in mind.

The contrary, imho, is merely a justification for cheap construction.
