Equality Rights
*15. (1) Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic, origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability.

This is the root of all problems in Canada! lol!

The only exception to this is if you are a married native woman living on a reservation. Or are a business owner in Quebec and want to have your sign in English. Or if you are a victim of a violent crime.

This may be so, but his hasty Constitution fucked you, me and the rest of Canada.

Yes the problems were not in the constitution its self more with a province who are afraid of not getting more than their fair share. This is something which has ruined this country for more then Trudeau's time .
It is time the price be laid on the table and the question answered once and for all . Then you sign it and we get on with being a great nation once again.

I don't get your point Pavolo. We are a great nation. What has changed that would make us NOT a great nation?

We have the right to sit and bitch all day and night on here and not fear who knocks at the door . We can criticise who we want within the truth and not get sued . We have a nation that can do most things if it stands up and puts it self into it .
We can misspell words and get crap for it laugh and stir the political pot , Troll if we want just not to much both for fish and to put out bait. Give our Doctors sh1t then ask them to save our life's along with our police and ambulance personnel. Tell me where else Rosene can this all happen in one day.

Further to the Constitution remember all of the Conservatives voted for it to as they could not solve it in there tenures either . It may not be perfect but it is a mess cause of Rennie Levesque not anyone else . His demand for Unique society killed it from the get go and this is the crap we have put up with since .
Lets put the blame where it belongs truly .

The premise of the Constitution Act was fine. The initial intent was to repatriate the act that made Canada a sovereign nation. Up to that point, Canada "existed" by a piece of British legislation called the British North America Act of 1867. Under the BNA, Quebec had the right to maintain their own language, law and religion WITHIN THEIR OWN PROVINCE. Trudeau slipped a few extras in when they wrote the Constitution Act.

I wonder if Trudeau is laughing in his grave over that "equal under the law" clause?

He inflicted Bilingualism on us. That sure has been great eh? A big waste of money.

Just what has it done for our country except make French an elitist language in government and within the country?

The other night mare left us was the not withstanding clause. This gem has been the start of many a dispute . To bad to many think this has given them the right to be a fool and claim it is there right to be . Smile

Look at all the rights!! They are just incredibly great if you value a Country that is able to welcome all people from all countries , all walks of life, and get them to work towards meshing their values into what we call Canada, the greatest Country in the World!

You cannot be a bigot, a racist, a bimboist (myself), and get away with it! except on this post!

The notwithstanding clause hasn't been used very much in Quebec!

I believe only on the French has to be bigger than English, and why should anyone care what those Frenchies want to do to preserve their language and their culture? They are right to be proud of their heritage, and to try and protect it as they see fit!

If they do not want to lose it, then they have to use it!
If the rest of Canada doesn't care about their heritage and want to mesh their culture, so be it!

Not sweet frick all!! Your rating is way too low- Our rights and freedoms have changed so many things for the betterment of everyone living together as a melting pot!
I like the melting pot idea, and the notwithstanding clause is not used very ofter.
I am sure that it was put in to give Quebec the ability to not be ganged up on by the other 12 provinces!!
