[EDIT]: Sorry, I realized later on that this belongs in the politics sections but I don't know how to move it, if it's possible at all. My bad.

lol!
I just HAD to waste some time by laughing at this! In a different post I was asking whether there's a party addressing aboriginal issues as a first priority, and Deank was kind enough to give me a link listing all the parties active in Manitoba. First on the list... the Communist Party of Canada.

I couldn't resist looking them up and I found a few great articles on... get this... "Modern Communism". Yeah! Very interesting stuff, I must say!

What I found particularly interesting was that they're still calling for a communist revolution, but still working as a party. I've always found it interesting how quick people are to call for a revolution when nobody agrees with their views, but it should be damn obvious that they could do whatever they wanted if they managed to convince people that their ideas weren't outdated or even outright idiotic.

What I find particularly interesting, reading their newsletter, is that they're very quick to criticize just about everything that goes wrong in the world, but never, ever offer a serious solution. Here's a good example:

"
Anarchy of production refers to the fact that, while production is highly planned at the level of individual plants and corporations, there is no overall planning of production. Each capitalist corporation plans its production in accordance with the prices and profits of the preceding accounting period. Investment in new productive facilities flows into those sectors that are most profitable, resulting eventually in an overcapacity of productive capability and a glut of those commodities on the market."

In short, capitalism creates overproduction because people want to make money, so when they see a way to gain money by increasing production, they do. Now, why is this a problem? Because then workers will have to be layed off when the production goes down! Nevermind the fact that they wouldn't even had those jobs to begin with without an increase in production! How can one think, and read, and still be a communist? I haven't met a communist since I was 15, and that communist was... well, 15!

Sorry to waste your time, I just found this hilarious that I couldn't help myself. Communist Party of Canada... ! I wonder how many dozens of followers they have.

I'm seriously thinking about throwing a communist party once I arrive in Manitoba! POWER TO THE COUNTER-DEMOCRATIC REVOLUTIONARY LEADERS WHO KNOW EXACTLY HOW MANY CARS WE NEED!

quite a few actually... quite a freakin lot really... most people are too "Scared" to vote outright for communism though so they vote instead for a party that is essentially the same thing without the name

I just have to see this. I have to go to their headquarters when I arrive and speak to them. I haven't met a communist since before I lost my virginity.

I wonder if they have tour guides.

Why the criticism of communism? From what I see from the threads and the posters, "our" system sucks!

I seriously doubt anyone is afraid of voting for the Communist Party. I mean it's 2009, not 1959. Anyone with half a brain would never vote Communist. It's failed in just about every country it's been implemented.

We all know how well communism worked. (CCCP, North Korea, Chairman Mao's China.110+ millions dead) What a great system that was.

Sometimes it becomes necessary to choose between the lesser of two evils.
