Has anyone tried it? It's our wedding anniversary tomorrow and the hubby is taking me to Chop for dinner. I've heard wonderful things so I am hoping not to be disappointed.

Here's the link http://www.chop.ca/

I was not there,

But we had a couple of Employees in last week and they ate there...and it was so good their first night in they went back the next night too. And these guys are in a different city in a different country almost every single week.. he was headed for Berlin this week and she to Hong Kong and I would think that they have tried food from all over the planet by now so to hit a restraunt to night in a row I would think it must be quite good.

Hubby and I were at the restaurant in Edmonton last summer and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a really good meal in a nice atmosphere. They have their own in house butcher, baker and pastry maker (no it's not a nursey rhyme) so everything is made fresh daily and is top notch taste and grade. The only thing I would suggest is if you want quiet and no chance of children (others) disturbing your meal, ask for a booth in the lounge as it is quiet in there and no kids.

How does it differ from the competition? It's better than... It's not as good as....

My wife and I went there last month.

It's excellent food (what we had anyway).
We got the big sampler...MORE than enough for two people...we were stuffed after that, though I also got a burger (HUGE).

My wife keeps bugging me to go back again too...and she's pretty picky about restaurants.

It will cost a bit though. That sampler was $30, and the burger was $15...so expect about $40+ per person.

Enjoy it though...and Happy Anniversary Smile

Happy Anniversary!
I was planning on hitting Hy's in August to celebrate, because we have never been disappointed there, my wife ordering lobster and me the filet mignon!
Dare I try a new place? Let us know the rsults, and please order lobster so I can take my wife their.

I have been disappointed at Hy's, the last few times just weren't as good. I have heard nothing but fabulous reviews for Chop. You should try it Rosie....

If you are comparing it to the Keg or Hy's, far superior in my opinion. I have not been to the Round Table for many years so wouldn't want to compare the two. And yes it can be quite pricey, for the 2 of us our bill (with tip) was $120.00 but remember that was in Edmonton. Not sure if the prices are the same here as in Edmonton. Hubby had the filet mignon and I had a pork tenderloin, best I have ever had, cooked to perfection. And being that I eat pork & chicken as opposed to beef, I am extremely picky about how it is cooked.

I have to say Chop gets two thumbs up! The atmosphere is warm and relaxing, the service was outstanding and the food was awesome. Homemade breads to start, the appetizers were delicious. I had the scallop and prawn dip with gorgonzola cheese and the hubby had french onion soup. For our main courses we both chose the 6oz filet mignon and we both had scalloped potatoes which were wonderful. I skipped dessert but the hubby had the homemade peach and white chocolate ice cream, he said it was delicious. We also had drinsks before dinner and a bottle of wine with dinner. The total including taxes was 141.00. I will definitley be going back and I highly recommend it.
