So my daughter starts school in a couple weeks (God I'm feeling old now Wink)

We're looking at ways to help reduce costs/work...and keep her healthy at the same time.

A friend of mine sent me this link...thought I'd share it with all of you who may have kids heading to classes.

Man it gets so difficult to send lunches nowadays with so many kids having so many other allergies to food.

Cant send peanut butter
Cant send fish
Cant send strawberries, kiwi, and a variety of other fruits and vegetables. ( and cant send a variety of jellies/jam for same reason )
Cant send ground up chicken because the lunch monitors dont know the difference between chicken and fish.
Cant send chips because they may have been cooked in peanut oil.

Nursery...though I thought about just jumping her to Kindergarten...damn school policies.

Fortunately for us though...she eats at daycare...(after school), so we can send what we want, as her daycare doesn't have any of those stupid policies.

I would spend 5 - 10 minute lessons in karate, and then expect my kid to simply take some ones lunch! Save a lot of money and your kid is certainly going to be respected a lot more!

I brought a Hunt's snack pack pudding once to school to eat at recess... I got yelled at because the can might be dangerous if used like a weapon...
This was the year 1971, more or less a week...

sigh... and in the discussion I cant help but note... Some pulled a Winnipeg Godwin and somehow related the HRM to the discussion

"Many people in this city are opposed to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights to be built here and have your taxes paying for it, but did you know that bullying will be one area covered in their material?

This museum generates emotional feelings as well, and may equal what is being displayed here through your comments. This museum regardless of how you feel towards it, is clearly linked to the problem at hand. Your son or daughter has the "right" to a good, solid education and at the present time, it is not happening. This has been going on for decades, yet we turn a blind eye, well maybe we shouldn't. Clearly, the authoritative personnel who can change this are not. By speaking out, as you are all doing now, is what needs to be done now, and you should be commended for it. The big question remains as to how to decrease this problem, as it will never completely disappear.

Based on all of the comments and stories being listed here, some of you might want to reconsider your position on this museum, as it might help your child or grandchild get the education they so richly deserve. It we stay in the dark, the problem continues. If your child sees through this museum that this in not acceptable, maybe change will come. If the parents of these bullies, and the powers that be don't do who will? How does a child learn, if they are not shown or told that their behaviour is wrong?"

Dean. We don't need a "museum" to teach kids that bullying is wrong.

Yeah, but what about the time you have to spend preparing all those meals, and washing the dishes each day? That's quality time that could otherwise be spent working! Think of the economy! Dirty Commie Bastards!

lol!

Dammit! It's shiny and new and we finally need something here that we can be proud of. It's our turn for something nice. Besides, it will "move humanity forward."
