A bunch of us had lunch at the Gasthaus Gutenberger today. We were a party of 16 and had reservations.

The waitress was very good and quite friendly. I had the 9 oz NY steak, which was cooked to perfection. A few of us ordered German pan fries but none were prepared and the wait would have been 40 minutes, so we opted for regular french fries.

The place wasn't packed. I would estimate that about four other couples came in. They have their well-known buffet on Thursdays and Fridays.

Everyone's meals looked yummy and I will return again. We have gone about once every 2-3 years.

You'd think they'd include a menu on their website.

But, your word is good enough for me. Wink

You would think that if they are serving ethnic dishes as simple as German Pan Fries that they would have had some blanched spuds kicking around.....hmmmm.....were the French Fries cut on the premises or did they come out of a McCains package......wondering.....if the fries were "home made" then that would have been a saving grace.....

I went there once and we tried some of their "german" food. It was not good. If you want to eat authentic German stuff try the Krautking in the Garry parkade.

The links are kinda odd. I first arrive at a splash page with another link to a full website...

You do not get directed to a second website, with full menus on the left hand side? How odd is that?

Weird. I'm running IE 8 at work and I can't see the menu!

But, it displays perfectly fine in Firefox 3.0.1.0.

I'm not really a big fan of German food. It's pretty bland for my tastes. I prefer Thai or Indian food....the hotter the better!
