So now Simpson is filing a grievance with the CFL because the Bombers put him on the 9 game injured list without his permission after he requested a trade. What are these guys doing? Trying to make it so no one wants to play here because they won't be treated with any respect by the management?

Don't surprise me. They have lost control and have turned a once proud franchise into the leagues joke.

Sad to see. Seems like every few days there is another player personnel issue they are dealing with poorly.

I guess it's only a matter of time before we start to hear threats about the Bombers relocating to Halifax or Kelowna.

Google eyes on Mike

So, Mike Kelly wants us to Google him, does he?
The head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers made the comment after his most embarrassing loss of the season, Sunday night.
"If you Google me, I've been successful elsewhere," the
professor, standing in the fresh mess of that 55-10 loss to
Saskatchewan, told reporters, amidst questions about his woeful offence
and 3-7 record.
Never one to shy away from a challenge, I decided to take the professor up on his offer.
Actually, I dug a little deeper than Google.
And the truth is, Kelly's success elsewhere has been limited,
which contradicts something else he said, the day after the Banjo Bowl.
"I never had this much trouble getting an offence to get the football pointed in the right direction," he said Monday.
Actually, professor, you have.
In fact, in Kelly's only other head coaching gig, which ended
with his firing after a post-game shouting match with the athletic
director and some fans at Valdosta State University in 1999, Kelly's
record was a mediocre 15-16 -- and his offence one of the worst in
school history.
"An era that people try to forget," a reporter from the area told me.
"He was a hard fit," is how another described it. "He was
cocky. He was outspoken. But he always blames it on the fact he was not
a southerner."
Kelly took over at Valdosta, in Georgia, in 1997. The next
three years remain the worst three years of offensive football the
Division II school has had in the last 16.

Read the rest of the article. It would appear that in Kelly, we have another Reinbold on our hands.

Too bad Bauer signed him for 3 years.

Why would bauer sign this guy to a 3 year term?

Oh right... slam the team into something that no one wants... Asper takes control and TADA!!!! the team is awesome again, in a new stadium..

Now that I have said it out loud I wonder if their will be goons waiting at my house when I get home?

A 2 QB system? Nice. So is this a pre-season game? Sorry, but how can any QB play with confidence if they have been told already that they are only going to be playing part of the game? What he's saying is that we don't have enough confidence in Bishop for him play the full game but we also don't have enough confidence in any backup for them to step in and play. You normally want to at least express that you have confidence in all your backups and that they are good enough to step up if your starter is injured or in a slump. Presumably they are on the team because they can play, not because they can't.

If you have read the Sun article I linked above. you will see that there were multi-QB issues with Kelly when he coached Division 2 college football in the US. His track record is, His offenses SUCK.

They should fire Lyle Bauer and coach Kelly and some of the dead wood players. Perhaps clean house towards the end of the season.

At a certain point, the bucks stop with Bauer.

Didn't they just trade Franklin and Bryant? I cant spell.

We should all send e-mails to Lyle and leave him voice mail too. Ask him how he got his job? Ask him who hired him and then ask who hired the rest of the board of directors.

This happened today also .Trade

So we trade Riall Johnson and Shawn Mayne both players who started last game for a fourth string quarterback. 2 Starters for a guy who doesn't even dress for games.

Maybe we can have a 4 QB system, one QB per quarter. I think that's what Kelly is thinking.

what makes you think he aint pulling the strings now?

Gotta have a sucky team, really sucky so that on the off chance they dont win the cup first year under his ownership, they still do way way better and we all see how great of a leader he is.

If the team is community owned, why hasn't the community been allowed to vote of this proposal?

AT this point in time, Asper has failed. no extensions. Let someone else have a crack at it, or revert back to plan A (without Asper ofcourse)

We have to have someone with a vision run the team. The current board, and community ownership, can't seem to get 'er done.

Create a new proposal and attach certain guarantees to it such as deadlines.

I would say the board has failed miserably....it's not the existing structure that is the problem, it's the people within it.

The Board Has to Go!!!

I think it's all a ploy to get the community to want Asper to take over the team. No one makes moves like this if they are actually trying to help the team.

Two starting non-imports traded for another quarterback? I thought Kelly has been saying this whole time that the new system takes a bit longer for an offense to learn because it's more timing based. If that's the case you can't switch quarterbacks or no one will ever learn the new system. You also can't trade receivers because the new guys will need to jump into this new system as well. The excuses put forward early in the season for why the offense isn't performing are in direct contradiction to the personel moves that the team has been making all year. If it takes time to adjust to, you don't bring in different quarterbacks every couple of weeks. If you can do something like that and expect results (the only reason you'd bring in a guy like Bishop instead of a younger player to condition for next season) then the system is the problem, not execution of the system.

IMO every defense knows exactly what we are going to do because we don't have a lot of options. If every play is either a run or a quick timing play, which you can actually defend in relatively similar ways, all they need to do is put some pressure on and defend at most 15 yards deep. Because the short zone is so clogged with defenders a run won't get far and any of the short passes will result in very few yards after the catch so you can force them into 2 and outs all day by almost a single defensive strategy. You get around that by spreading the defense down field but that's not an option for us because without either a shotgun or a superhuman offensive line, we don't have time for distance plays to develop on a regular basis. Might get lucky and have one or two work out per game but it's not worth the defenses time to really defend against it if they can force 2 and outs for the remainder of the game. At least that's what I think. I'm no defensive co-ordinator but I don't see it being very tough to defend when you basically know what's coming every series.
