I thought our school system was supposed to be secular. Mysticism, spititualism and religious hoodoo voodoo have no place in public education.

Well, apparently not. From the WSD1 policies page:

IGABA - Aboriginal Education

3.8 Spiritual teachings are sacred laws received by the spirit for the growth and harmony of all living things.

A blessing is a religious act and the school board has no idea of that? But is it? What religion is aboriginal? Is there an aboriginal church? I thought the white man got all the aboriginals to change to the white man's religion? What was the point then in taking the kids away, and of cutting off their hair?

. If you believe magical smoke can cleanse you, thats religon.

I believe the correct word is superstition. Cleansing smoke is the same as stepping on a crack can break your mother's back. No difference at all.
