I say we do the opposite to the above.

I say we cut all funding to the indians.

Time to fish or cut bait eh....we've been propping up a stupid system for far too long....without any difference having been made. It is high time for everybody to be treated equally and not have certain types given a system that keeps theem down.

we need to uterly destroy the idea that we are keeping people on the reserve. They are staying there because they want to.

They are more then welcome to leave the reserve. I whole heartedly encourage them all to do so as fast as they can. I encourage all of their chiefs and council to stop spending money on housing on the reserve and start buying land in or close to this city ( or any city or town with a worker shortage) and building transitional housing for their people to rent very cheaply off of them until they can get established with a good paying job. These people can then move on to their own houses and someone else can move in to the transitional house.

Dont like the "poor" medical care where you are? Move. I did.
Dont like the job outlook where you are? Move. I did.
Dont like the recreational activities for your children? Move. I did.
Dont like the educational resources for your children? Move. I did.
Dont like the high cost of food and low selection? Move. I did.

Do not get me wrong. I loved growing up and living in the north. I loved being able to enjoy the outdoors as I did growing up.

Close untenable reserves. It's that simple.

nah keep the reserves as reserved land for their use alone.

use can be hunting, farming, fishing, forestry... whatever... they just cant sell it away from their kids.

Wouldn't you think that if these reserve lands were viable, they would already be used for such things?

Problem is that most of these are remote and good for crap...hence the move to 'urban reserves'.
