I've seen a similar model that does the eggs/toast etc.

It was at Canadian Tire last Christmas season. I was joking with my wife about getting one, that I might actually stop swinging through Timmy's and getting breakfast there.

My apologies, it wasn't Canadian Tire, it was Sears.

$80 gets you a new machine:

Took it to the only genius I know. Fixed in an hour.
Issue was a broken relay.
Relay appears to have been a redundant fail safe.
Bypassed it and everything is back to normal.

Yes. The relay was broken, and as far as we can tell, that was the only thing it could have been. Redundant. Bypass it, and everything still works.

Toasts when needed. Pops when needed. Cooks when needed. Stops when needed. Just eggs does just eggs. Just toast does just toast. Stops when told to stop, or when done.

Personally, I think "THEY" planted a bug in your toaster and it died. You found it and bypassed it. Just say'n.

Just the ones bought in CCCP and USA...
edit:
If bought in Canada, you'll find a flint in it, CSIS standards...
