time to start a new thread.
http://www.wtop.com/?sid=1836348&nid=106
"The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated swine flu has a lower death rate than seasonal flu."
Note a few other places saying its not that bad,

Meanwhile in Canada....
Our Minister of Health appears to still have not recieved the memo and appears to be telling people they must go out and get the shot because we are not out of the woods yet.
And is even saying stupid things like

Canadians are no longer getting the shot because they think we are at the level where enough people are vaccinated to stop the disease in its tracks. We are only at 35-40% vaccination and we need to be at 90% or above.

Which is just absolutely one of the oddest things I have heard. Someone needs to slap her and tell her to snap out of it. Canadians are not getting the shot because they dont want to, they never wanted to, and they dont see the benefit.

This mess clearly demonstrates the difficulties that exist when the provinces are responsible for administering health care and the Feds have to interact with them in an emergency situation.

You must admit that there was a hellava lot of confusion over just who should/did get the shots.

nope its real simple.

no one should get the shot unless they for whatever reason already get the seasonal flu shot.

Nothing confusing there.

I'm talking about the authorities releasing the lists of eligible people...that was confusing imho.

No one said to get the shot because you're going to die, its a pandemic and its effect would be primarily economic. When H1N1 is mild in the overall terms of flu, it is spread easily and therein lies the rub.

I got my shot, actually both of them, and I lived to tell of if. If it helps, great, but like most things in life, theres no guarantee.

"No one said to get the shot because you're going to die, "

Ahh... but thats pretty much exactly what the public was thinking.
