Thatks to jtf for inspiring this thread. Here is what Elvira has to say. What are your Winnipeg predictions?
The Winnipeg Sun

Success in the coming year may not be in the cards for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and mayor Sam Katz.

According to psychic Elbera Lotz, the year 2010 will be another tough one for the local Canadian Football League concern, as the combination of a struggling on-field product and nagging questions of a new stadium will continue to dominate the headlines.

Uncertainty

Elbera says the David Asper/Creswin Properties stadium plan will face seven major issues and may not be decided on in the next 12 months. To make matters more bleak, the uncertainty of that situation only underlines the long odds of ending a 20-year championship for the Blue and Gold.

"It doesn't look promising," Elbera said as she interpreted the tarot cards. "There's a female interfering in this Bomber thing -- I don't know who she is -- but she's from the east. I don't know if she's going to be an owner or if she will have a hand in the stadium project, but she'll be involved.

"One thing is certain, though: The Bombers will not win the Grey Cup next year."

That prediction meshes well with another Elbera forecast.

The summer of 2010 will be just as cool weather-wise as the '09 version was.

As for the civic election, scheduled for October 2010, things are even more unclear. Elbera said Katz may be in for a tough fight for the mayor's chair.

"There's competition from another person, a female, and it will be very, very close," she said. "It seems like Sam Katz will be in for a real fight to maintain power. It will be very close."

Other political predictions for 2010 are a little more cut and dry.

Despite "a good half-dozen issues that he'll really need to concentrate on," Manitoba premier Greg Selinger should have an easy go of it in his first full year as Broadway boss, while federally, Canadians should expect to go to the polls at some point.

What about the National Hockey League returning to Winnipeg? Will we hear a definite answer on the subject in the next 12 months, or is our NHL fate destined to fall somewhere between eternal hope and the hard reality of the small market situation.

Hesitated

Elbera hesitated when giving her answer.

"I don't think it will happen this year," she said. "As much as we'd like it to come here, there's a competition between two other cities. One of them is in the west. We still could get it, but it looks doubtful now. Other cities keep coming up."

Finally, what about the biggest hockey tournament in the world, the 2010 Olympic men's hockey tournament in Vancouver?

"It's going to be a toss up between the two most northern teams, Canada and Russia," she said. "The No. 8 is significant in this decision -- whether that's a player or a score -- but No. 8 is the number that will be the winner."

Hmmm ... Alex Ovechkin skates on the Russian side.

Great.

The prices of everything will go up in 2010...
Especially metals and oil.
The loony will soar to 12 cents above the greenback.
Electrician avoids another New Year's Resolution...
Rosen signs in with a duplicate account, to keep him busy with himself.
Dean promises to eat at least 5 whoppers every 10 big macs consumed.
To avoid changing names, Eastsider stays put, on the East side.
If the Moose make the playoffs, they'll wear the Winnipeg Jets jersey in the playoffs.
The Yellowknife Tundra join the CFL.
The Blue Bombers get lost in the Arctic, while going to a CFL game...
Rosen will open his own Rosencrentz Pavilion in this Summer's Folklorama.

Well Electrician, you'll get at least one prediction right, I'm staying on the east side! And as for DeanK I predict 7891 posts coming from him. Grumpy will partake 52 Sals breakfasts, and SMW will sell 3250 metres of hose.

The best predictions are those that bring a smile to your face, or a laugh to your heart...and uz'guyz do both.

Manitoba's economy will do surprisingly well, second only to Saskatchewan, as the demand for housing will speed up many construction projects (i.e. Waverley West). As a result, there will be a big demand for tradespeople, and many from Alberta will return to boost the population in record numbers.

The Canadian economy will rebound, but not as fast as expected. Alberta, in particular, will have a rough time, but things will eventually improve. Canada will emerge in much better shape than the US, once the recession officially ends.

In sports:

-England will end a 44 year drought, and capture the World Cup of Soccer in South Africa

-Canada will do well in the Olympics, and this will climax with a Gold Medal victory in Ice Hockey

-Tiger Woods will continue to be a recluse through the whole year

-The Chicago Blackhawks will end a 49 year drought and capture the Stanley cup (over 1,000,000 people will line the streets in the Windy City to celebrate)

-The Indianapolis Colts will win the Super Bowl

-Toronto sports teams will continue to suck

Dean K will enter the Civic Election, but will fall short in his bid, as Darren Ford (Jetsowner.com) will shock the city and become the mayor, as his promise of bringing an NHL team to the city resonates with voters.

Oh, I predict we'll sell a great deal more than that in the first two weeks alone!

My predictions

Spring election, forced by the Liberals and Bloc. Liberals and Bloc will both lose seats to the Conservatives and the NDP will become the official opposition to the majority Conservative government.

Another year and still no new stadium, not that we need one.
Another Year and still rumors about the NHL returning.

Iran gets bombed.

The Free Press shuts downs their Sunday tabloid, On 7.

Israel bombs Iran with using low-yield nuclear “bunker-busters” weapons, bringing increased instability in the middle-east and Asia.

Canada will win the gold medal in Olympic hockey.

Invictus will win at least one Oscar, maybe three (Director - Clint Eastwood, Actor - Morgan Freeman, Supporting Actor - Matt Damon.)

Homecoming 2010 will be reported to be a great success, but in reality, will have an insignificant effect according to most people.

Iron Man 2 will have the second best opening weekend of the year, second only to part 1 of the new (and final) Harry Potter film.

No one will emerge to give Mayor Katz a serious run for his money, although Lloyd Axworthy will be pressured to do so.

The Sandbox will continue to be the best Winnipeg forum, since its inception.

A Federal election will be called in which the Tories will increase their seat total but not enough to form a majority. The party insiders will quietly begin to look around for some candidates to replace Harper as leader. The Liberals will lose some seats overall and Iggy will be heavily pressured to call a leadership convention for 2011 but will refuse to do so.

Polls will show that a majority of Canadians favour Quebec separating from the rest of Canada.

Selinger's popularity will continue to slide as more economic bad news continues to rear its ugly head in the form of a billion dollar deficit forecast for 2011. Hugh McFadyen will begin to lick his lips in anticipation of the upcoming 2011 election, but rumours will spread that some party members want him removed in favour of someone more likely to win. David Asper's name will emerge, as will Dave Angus' and Larry McIntosh's.

CanWest will continue to struggle but won't go out of business.

The Winnipeg Sun will institute layoffs in order to stay afloat.

Tiger Woods will play in the Masters but will fail to make the cut to play the final two days. He won't win any Majors this year.

The Bombers will struggle again and management will shoulder the blame for not landing a top-notch QB.
