Joeys eh? I haven't been there in quite sometime. It was okay, reminds me of Earls (I think they are owned by the same company)...Maybe we will give it another try.

Buccacino's is the Moxie's Italian-style venture. I've never been and don't have any intention of going.

The Maple Tree was fantastic. Overall, ten of us went and between us we tried nearly all of the Dine About menu. Great service, even better food. A couple people weren't "full" after, but let's just say they're big eaters.

The Maple Tree opened in August 2009, the second restaurant of Dario Gutierrez, who also runs Cafe Dario in the city. He now splits his time between Selkirk and Winnipeg.

Just visited The Maple Tree in Selkirk for their contribution to the Dine About promotion. The menu is sure to satisfy regarding choice (they will not serve off the main menu for the week but that is OK) and the ambiance and quality of food and service was very good. Caution- If you like bland food (steak and potato guy) dont bother because Chef Dario is an absolute wizard with the spices. Food presentation is a joy. If you go the 3 course/25.00 is featured and you upgrade to a wine pairing experience for only 10.00 more. Caution those little red peppers he uses for accent will take the top of your head off. Definitely recommend a trip . 4.5/5.

Joey's Polo has wicked grilled cheese & lobster sandwiches. It's not bad for a chain.

We were at Buccacinos for lunch last week. We enjoy the salad & pasta - they have a sambuca based sauce that is excellent.

I'm mainly trapped in an area of town that sucks for food. I don't know how many Sals they can cram into a square mile, but Leila/McPhillips has it covered. *shudders*

I tried Pho Mamma on McPhillips the other day, and was underwhelmed. Pho 1 on Isobel is much better.

I had lunch last year at Pho 1 on Isabel and came away under-impressed. But it was very busy so that is indicative of good food.

There's only one Sals at Leila/McPhillips...and it's more on Leila by McDonalds now.
The one that WAS in the stripmall in front of Shoppers moved over this winter...though I think the signs are still up.

If you want some decent Chinese food, travel further down Leila till you see the Mac's.
There's a good chinese restaurant in that little strip.

And, I've never tried it, but I've heard The Feast is recommended for their chicken. (South on McPhillips by Safeway).

I have tried The Feast. Very good basic meat and potatoes food. I recommend it. Have not tried their chicken yet though.

The "thunderbird" is completely surprising and not at all what you expect it to be either.

...but if you go late a night, theres bound to be a few drunks in there. (If 2 or more of them look alike, send me a PM and I'll tell my kids to get their asses home)

Its kind of nostalgic to eat your chili burger off a plate monogrammed "Town and Country."

And then there is the Paradise on Leila and Sinclair. Not bad Italian food. There is also Sorrento's on Mcphillips between Leila and Kingsbury. Personally I don't like the darkness of the restaurant or the tight squeeze of the place but the chef's salad is pretty good and is enough to take home for dinner as well.

I haven't been to Alycia's since they re-opened and ever since Don passed away a few years ago I find their product has gone down hill. But then I remember that restaurant when it was called Alice's.
As for Kelekis, good food but again with the introduction of premade burger patties the quality is not quite what it used to be but the atmosphere and the history alone is something to see, at least once. But if you go there you need to sit at the counter and talk to Mary if she is there and really engage her on the history of not only the restaurant but of the neighbourhood.

Yikes! I thought Alice's/Alycia's food was bad to begin with, personally, and for it to go downhill....well...
