* Manitoba's budget projects deficits of $545 million in 2010-11, $448 million in 2011-12, $345 million in 2012-13 and $146 million in 2013-14. The government plans a surplus of $185 million in 2014-13.

* Total revenues are projected to rise by $218 million in 2010-11 or 0.5%.

* Total expenditures are set to rise by $208 million or 1.6%. The rise is mainly related to increases in health ($234 million) and education ($180 million), partially offset by a $244 million decrease in "Justice and Other Expenditures" as one-time emergency expenditures in 2009-10 are not repeated in 2010-11.

* Net debt as a percentage of GDP is projected to rise from 22.8% in 2008-09 to 24.4% in 2009-10 and 26.8% in 2010-11.

Did we not make it illegal to run a deficit in this province?

Unlike everybody else, the NDP can just re-write the rules when they inconvenience them. Pretty sweet arrangement...

I'm standing in line to vote against NDP MLA Mohinder Saran.

If it were not for my fear of public speaking I would run against him in my riding.

Yes rather convenient they do not take the cut they made law . Course this is from a party who really do not believe in Unions or their agreements.

As opposed to the other guys who have never seen a tax dollar that they did not want to spend.

All the more reason the Province should not be paying for things that we do not need.

I expected them to trash the legislation when they came to power.

I was guardedly hopeful when it still existed ( although weakened) 8 yrs later.

I'm not surprised at all about this though.

and to put it Jeff Foxworthy style:

"If you're comparing your budget to that of the previous government that hasn't been in power for 10 years - then you ARE a shitty government!"

I wont be surprised to see them (NDP) give themselves a 20% wage increase to offset the 20% taken away by being in a deficit.

What they are trying to do is end faith-based health services, we seen it at the Grace (Hospital) and they are trying to do it here.

Seems like more people will be relying on faith-based health care - i.e. praying to God (or whoever) to heal them.... Neutral

I guarentee you that praying to me will cure you of all diseases.

Should I be wrong about my power to heal, I gaurentee you a Solid Gold house in the afterlife.
