This was and likely still is a nightmare for the cooks and prepcooks in the back. When I worked at the OG on Lag. years ago, there were so many greedy pigs, many of them very obese that came into the place to stuff their fat faces, and that caused us to work non-stop, many times without breaks, just to keep these animals fed. Sooo many people called in sick during this special promotion just to avoid this gong-show, and as a result we were short-staffed very often and those that showed up had to bare the brunt of the onslaught. I'm very glad I don't work there anymore!

Good Post!

That. I cannot contemplate being compelled to eat multiple bowls of pasta. Never mind gorging on unlimited pasta. It's as weird to me as the unlimited fish and chips deals I see all over the place. *wretch*

I used to be able to do 3 bowls of soup and then the first pasta bowl is always larger.. but then 5 after that.

with many raspberry ice teas to wash it all down

but I used to be able to eat way more then I can now.

but the kicker with the pasta is that each bowl can be different.

Bonanza! I was just thinking of Bonanza! I haven't seen one since the late 90's when they went the way of the dinosaurs. My father loved to go and fill up on crap like ice cream and jello.

No more Bonanzas in Winnipeg, they still had a location in Portage La Prairie in 2003 or so but I believe it is gone now.

No more Bonanzas in Brandon or Regina. I checked it out, I had a craving for Bonanza when I was pregnant and was willing to drive 6 hours to Regina.

One has to wonder how often or not the oil is changed in the fryers and what kind of "fish" is used at say a chain operation like Joey's? As for the Olive Garden, I reserve comment as when it comes to food not everyone is into an authentic experience.

No. Way. You're kidding? They exist? OMFG! I'm going to have to tell my father that when he gets here later. Not only is there still a Foodie Goodie in Winnipeg, but genuine Bonanzas? *dances a happy dance*

Dude. You just made my day. They disappeared out here around the time I started high school, and I just assumed the chain died. People traded salad bars for sushi. This is amazing!

I just drove through Regina on Sunday, and there is still a Bonanza on Vicoria Ave. on the east side of the city.

I know that there are a lot of people who do NOT want an authentic anything experience. A lot of people prefer the white-y experience.

And that is why many of them are resembling that other "whitey" thing - the Pillsbury Dough Boy.

The signs are still up, and there is also a second location on Albert Street. Regina still has Bonanza Restaurants.

Right you are. Every trip to the US has proven this repeatedly.
