I could tell you stories about Foody Goody...one of my first office jobs was as a office manager for a pest control company. Oh man, the technicians would have some pretty gross stories to tell.

After suffering two bouts of illness after dining there, I began to refer to them as "Foody Poisoning".

You went back after the first time being sick? lol!

Ouch!

I don't do buffets. Mostly because I don't believe the food will stay hot enough for me to enjoy it. Some things just shouldn't be sitting under a heating lamp either.

Yup. Wasn't sure of the cause the first time around, when I ate there on my own. The second time, a group of us went for lunch, and a few of us wound up sick.

Actually there is a pretty good buffet in town - Marigold. As long as you stay away from the deep-fried sugar-sauced meats. When I was there last week there was a solo guy that ate only that - and about 5 trips. He washed it down with 2 large pepsi's. When we walked past him to leave he was wiping the sweat off his face with one hand and still working his fork with the other. People have to realize what the hell they're doing to their health. We need to convert a few restaurants to eating-addiction centres I think.

Agreed. I worked at a buffet full-time for five long years, I could tell you a few stories...

We had one customer we nicknamed "The Chicken Man", because all he ate was the fried chicken and mashed potatoes, copious amounts of each... enough to realistically feed a family of four. After a while he stopped using plates altogether, instead filling HIS ENTIRE TRAY with food.

Took management a full year to grow a spine and limit his portions considerably.

I've heard of places reserving the right to ban those types. It's for their own good - whether they realize it or not. It would be assisted-suicide otherwise.

Then their's the other crowd to contend with who stuff their bags/purses with fried chicken and deserts. It's a risky business that buffet offering. Cruises are great places for eaters - you can order anything (free) 24/7. We once ordered 10 hot dogs and 10 cheesburgers at 4am and they were at the cabin with a smile in 15 minutes. Frankly I don't know how they turn a profit.

Montana's Restaurant I found to be the closest thing to Bonanza, sans-salad buffet bar.

Do they have those 1/4 inch thick steaks that Bonanza had?

Just seeing this thread for the first time, seeing Bonanza made me think of some long departed Winnipeg restaurants

Shakey's, Fuddruckers, Mr. Steak (I worked there), Ponderosa

Jebus. This thread has come back from the dead a year later? I noticed the Foody Goody by Wal*Mart is gone now too. Then I noticed another on Regent. My father, if he ever comes out here, will be relieved.

The Foody Goody on Ellice was closed by the health Department awhile back for rodent infestation.

The report in the Free Press must have killed their business. I went there the odd time, once a year and loved it, except my head was spinning from the msg?

They had a 5* rating from people who had eaten there.

On google , it appears that there are many other locations
