You have to give it up to the deep thinkers who run the CFL: they seldom miss an opportunity to make themselves look bad.

The league that has given us two different eras of the Gliebermans, a dude owning two teams, and some of the most frighteningly bad officiating imaginable was at it again on Friday.

That’s when the eight-team loop handed out a $250 fine to Winnipeg Blue Bombers fullback Jon Oosterhuis for violating its uniform policy during an otherwise forgettable game against Toronto on Oct. 23.

And what offensive article of clothing did Oosterhuis wear to spark the wrath of the fashion police, you ask? Pink gloves, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

No, really. This actually happened. This is not an elaborate Halloween trick being played on you.

The CFL actually came out against its players doing something for charity, admonishing Oosterhuis and Saskatchewan Roughriders player Marcus Adams. And they did so knowing full well the NFL spent the entire month encouraging its players and officials to wear pink to raise awareness for a cause that has touched a countless number of families.

Morons.

In defending the decision, commish Mark Cohon wrote recently on CFL.ca that the league prefers not to choose one worthwhile cause over another. So instead of being a solid corporate citizen and doing some good in the communities it supports, the league’s official position is to do nothing because it might hurt a neglected charity’s feelings.

Cohon did say recently on the league’s website that he and other CFL muckety-mucks would review the policy in the off-season, presumably to rubber-stamp a plan that allows players and officials to wear pink gloves next October without getting anyone’s panties in a knot.

But by then, it will have been at least a year too late. The damage is already done.

Cohon and company could have easily looked the other way this year while formulating their plan and avoided looking like a bunch of boobs, but incredibly chose not to.

As a result, despite the best efforts of its players, they’ve made the CFL look like a bush league. Again.
Speaking of morons did engstrom believe the coy reference to the CFL "looking like a bunch of boobs" was wryly funny?

While I agree Cohen and the CFL are morons in this matter so too is engstrom for that remark.
