This press release reinforces how the NDP are soft on crime. Let's go after vehicle owners yet again.

grumpy old man

Typical of Manitoba politicians is this notion that crime is a Federal issue alone. Credit to Katz for doing what he can (add many more police officers). But the NDP has not done all it can do. Sure they are contributing to more police officers and equipment such as a police helicopter, but the City does not NEED the province to do that.

What the NDP has to do is instruct Manitoba Justice to prosecute more vigorously. No more (or less) plea bargains. Build more jail capacity (and more remote if possible please). Stand up to Layton and demand he cooperate with the Federal government in their attempts to reform justice.

Yes, I really am that Grumpy...

It's their, they're and there; in Canada it's colour, cheque, rumour and zed...

A job is the best social program and the best deterent against having someone turn to a life of crime.
All other solutions are band-aids at best.

My solution? Workfare and or training-fare. No welfare for able-bodied people unless they are in training or doing workfare.

“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through
our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that
democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'
