Sounds reasonable. From what I understand - the same job would have been $70,000 in January - so we're (the taxpayer) supposed to feel like winners. Strange how this formula/concept doesn't actually work in the real world - only when it comes to other people's money. Taxpayers are suckers. Easy pickings. We need to have our taxes into trust and controlled by a legal representative.

Because too many reserves are so very poorly run we see these extravagant numbers.

Why not start off with what is affordable and build on it every year? If reserve "A" budgeted "x" to provide water this year they maybe hook up 10 houses. Then next year they add 10 more house. And every year afterward keep adding until the reserve is properly provided with water.

Seems to me if they want running water it would be the responsibility of the Chief and the band council to get it done.

I'm sure in the old days, the ones they romanticize about, The chief and his braves along with the elders met from time to time and made decisions about things that needed to be done.

Nothings changed now go get er done.

$60 million dollars to put water in 1000 homes. What a waste of resources!
In a related story on government spending $60 million dollars,
"total cost after extention of Canada's Libyan mission to September"- $60,000,000.

Heh...the actual cost for putting in the water services is only $4 M....the rest is for the chiefs and their friends to "study the matter" before proceeding.
