McFadyen now has the support of 47 per cent of decided voters according to recent polls.

It's the highest support the Tories have polled since 1998.

http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/provincial-tory-support-rises-118730729.html

Most importantly, Tory support is solid compared to the other parties. That is the most important indicator imo.

As well, the poll, conducted exclusively by Probe Research Inc. for the Winnipeg Free Press, shows Tory support is the most solid of all three provincial parties, with six in 10, or 60 per cent, of their supporters saying they are "very likely" to cast their ballot for the party in the Oct. 4 provincial election.
That compares to 49 per cent of NDP supporters and 24 per cent of Liberal voters.

I am gobsmacked that 49% of Manitoba ndp supporters would still consider voting for them. This truly scares me. Proof positive that hughie has not done his job.

Some people vote for the same party all the time.
Dont matter who the candidate is
dont matter what the position is
dont matter what the candidates position on key platforms are.
dont even matter what the parties position on key platforms is.

They simply say. I am an XXXXX and vote that way regardless.

Likely that 49% of NDP supporters have a vested interest in maintaining a personal status - either through employment or other union interests. Or they're tax recipients versus tax payers. And that is scary when those segments outnumber the rest.

Honoring family tradition. That translates into being ignorant - and proud of it.

Huh??? Gimme a break!!

How can "hughie" do anything about stupidity?

You're calling him out for dummies that continue to support these other dummies??? Didn't you know that dummies stick together....and, unfortunately, also breed. Yuk Sad

If hughie had been more effective in opposition he could have influenced a few peeps.

Trust me GOM...people that are very left wing will never vote Conservative.

It's politically naive to think they would, so to suggest MacFayden isn't doing his job is ridiculous.

Hugh went quiet for about 18 critical months while he was dealing with a divorce. He's now very focussed so look for him to connect with voters very well over the next few months. He'd be the first to admit the PC's didn't oppose the NDP as well or as much as should have been done but that period is behind us. A Hugh-led PC Party will be strong.

To suggest it is ridiculous is ridiculous.

hughie has not done his job, and he has not done it for several years: "I'll bring back the Jets" ring a bell with anyone?

To suggest hughie is doing his job is to ignore the facts.

And this from a card carrying conservative...

As GOM has said before. polls are going to be very lopsided for awhile until cell phones start being included.

Two elections, Conservatives way up in both. (fed and prov) is it true? Or is it just a lopsided view based on younger generation (more likely to vote NDP) is offline?

Changing channels eh.

You said that because Hugh didn't convince more Nippers to vote Conservative he was not doing his job.

That was a ridiculous statement then as it remains a ridiculous statement.

Huh? Whatchu talkin' about willis? How can both positions be ridiculous? Maybe it's degrees of ridiculousness? I think that had the number been smaller, say 25 or 30%, I'd be less gobsmacked. But I guess because jtf disagrees it's ridiculous.

JTF wrote:You said that because Hugh didn't convince more Nippers to vote Conservative he was not doing his job.
Actually that's not what I said jtf. Read it again... I suppose though that had I said that one might say that is ridiculous.

hughie is an absolute fricken joke. the only reason the cons stand any chance at all is because silly is an even bigger joke.

hughie leadership of the party has been pathetic at best. There have been times in the last few years (like say the last election) where I he couldn't find his own a$$ with a beer and a gay man.

No politician is looked at as good! lol
No vision, no empathy, no nothing!
And yet , they are elected, they work their butts off, and I wonder why?
Could the forum members (excluding me) be wrong? lol

Doesn't staying in power work for 10 years at a time in Manitoba?

You're reading something that's not there. Where does it say that said hugie should convince more Nippers to vote Conservatives? That's you're interpretation.

Look, if you are not sure what I mean just ask for clarification.

Here is what I meant: If hugie had done his job these past five years I could see ndp'ers second guessing themselves. I could see the number that said they WOULD vote ndp dropping. If hugie had done his job he may have convinced ndp'ers to vote something else: liberal, green, communist party... ...and yes, maybe the odd Conservative vote.

Yes it is my interpretation....and anyone's that is familiar with words.

Nope. I'd say only someone less familiar with the written word would not only interpret it that way, but also obstinately cling to that view in the face of clarification and at the same time insult people. Good work!

I'll use smaller words next time fer ya jtf. Sorry you can't keep up with the adults.
