quite honestly...i don't think MOST people care if it's fake or not.

Just like people who buy Canadian flags at Dollarama vs. ordering from an "official" flag making company here in Canada...

you are supporting the SYMBOL of the jets by wearing their logo around and advertising that you are a fan. just because you aren't willing (or don't have) more than $100 to spend on an "authentic" jersey, doesn't make you less of a fan...just makes you a more frugal one.

well, no...but official flagmaking standards:

The Department of Canadian Heritage has listed the various colour shades for printing ink that should be used when reproducing the Canadian flag; these include:[6]

  • FIP red: General Printing Ink, No. 0-712;
  • Inmont Canada Ltd., No. 4T51577;
  • Monarch Inks, No. 62539/0
  • Rieger Inks, No. 25564
  • Sinclair and Valentine, No. RL163929/0.

The colours 0/100/100/0 in the CMYK process, PMS 032 (flag red 100%), or PMS 485 (used for screens) in the Pantone colour specifier can be used when reproducing the flag.[6]
In 1984, the National Flag of Canada Manufacturing Standards Act was
passed to unify the standards used for flying the flag both indoors and
outdoors.[14]

Something I just thought of....

The two red bars are supposed to represent the two coasts...from sea to sea.

Now we consider our country as "from sea to sea to sea".... so our flag is outdated imo.

What would you say if you saw a Ferrari logo on a Honda?

actually...i have...and didn't think much of it...

however...i wouldn't compare a real jersey to a fake one as a ferrari & honda.

a better comparison would be putting a ferrari body on a honda chassis and engine...thus...a honda pretending to be a ferrari on the outside...but then again...does it really matter?

is the quality of the real shirt worth 3x the amount of the fake one? Is it made THAT much better? Or are you simply paying for a name?
I could understand if say $50 for every REAL jersey bought was going to some kind of charity?
Or if the REAL jersey was actually worth the extra money due to quality or design.

But it's a shirt.
I could go buy a blank plain jersey and sew my own logo, or even better, make an ironon transfer and make my own...and i could still say i'm a fan.

Maybe (just maybe) some people actually want the jersey they are wearing to look like the ones being worn by the players they are cheering for.

Why should money from a jersey go to charity? Should money from the pizza you ate last night go to charity? What about the money you spent buying the extra soft toilet paper? Heaven forbid a private company make money based on prices that the market will support.

I have seen my fair share of fake jerseys and I know that the quality is much lower. Buying them also does not support people in Canada who actually work for Reebok. When you buy a fake jersey you are really just padding the pockets of Chinese counterfeiters.

you're missing the point sput

i have no problem with a business making money...

but the value should be there for the product offered.

unless the manufacturing quality is that significant, there's no real value in the "real" jerseys...other than memorabilia 20 years from now...

what's next? the NHL demands no players are allowed to sign "fake" jerseys?
They are supposed to tell some poor 6-year-old, whose dad can't afford the "real" jersey, and were given tickets to a game by their boss that they can't sign the kid's jersey cause it's not "authentic"?

Whoah! Not cool! Fill me in!

New logo shirts?

Yeah.

Hanging right in their window.

Crappy screen printing on a Gildan t-shirt.

Who knows what else of theirs is fake.

did these guys sell this kind of stuff?

Are the "real" jerseys at least made in Canada, or in some asian sweatshop by slave labour?

My wife bought a Louis Vuitton (?) handbag from a street vendor in Athens Greece for $20. There was a LV shop somewhere along our travels (London I think) where we saw it for $200. A person would be hard-pressed to see the difference. 7 years later it's still as good as new. She would never have paid $200 for a purse so LV has a lesson to learn from counterfeiting. They'd probably quadruple sales if their shops sold it for what it's practical value is - $50

A LV purse (handbag) for $200 is 10 cents on the dollar. They sell for really big bucks.

Chances are the one in London was also a fake.

There are varying grades of counterfeit goods.

Real LV purses sell in the $1500-2500 range for the standard models.

I would agree with his justification if he actually got a jersey that looked like an authentic one.

Its like not wanting to pay for a $2 orange so you buy one for a $1 and get an apple.
