Great site that is basically a news aggregator for the MB election. They also send out a questionnaire to all the candidates... although even after repeated requests I have not gotten one so I will be using a copy of another candidate and sending it in tonight...

Their twitter feed has most of the NDP candidates "answering" the questions rolling in today.

every single one of them only answers 3 of the 6 questions... and I use the term answers very loosely

compare Jennifer Howard to Paul Hesse for example

http://manitobaelection.ca/constituencies/12/fort-rouge

And I really do need to laugh at the NDP picking this question as one of the ones they have decided to answer.

Is there anything in particular you would like to change in our province? In your electoral Division?

pro tip.. if after 11 years there is still stuff you want to change maybe dont be so ambiguous in your answer? I am talking to you Jennifer Howard....

Health care, infrastructure, safety and privatization of Manitoba Hydro.

so wait.. she wants to change hydro privatization? Does that mean she support privatizing hydro?

Curious that they have elected to answer a select few questions. I think maybe they believe they can't be beat?

I think they are scared of letting their candidates answer the other three questions

What is one thing you stand for that is not a part of your political party's platform?

Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?

What is your favourite location in the electoral division you are currently a candidate for?

Citizens in Seine River care deeply about access to health care when
they need it, access to quality affordable day care and long-term care
and developing strong, vibrant schools. They want strong, strategic
investment in these key areas."

Yeah JTF.. seriously.. You go read it again. What selective content? I dont know how it can be selective when the content is 100% derived from google news other then the 6 questions they asked every candidate... some candidates respond, some dont. Can you tell us what you think should be there so we can see it missing?

"
How are the news articles collected?

Articles are automatically gathered from Google News
by searching for the full names of the candidates in the upcoming
Manitoba election. The search location is set to Manitoba using the advanced search properties.

If a specific news article is not showing up in our system it is
because it has not been indexed by Google News. Because our news
gathering is an automated process we cannot manually add news stories to
a constituency or candidate page."

how about this.. if you have a candidate that says he/she responded and its not published.. tell them to forward the email to you from their sent items and then check to see if they sent it to the right address and when they sent it.

FYI.. mine sent at 11:00 today... so.. lets see how long it takes to go up. If there are others still missing after that, that you know for a fact have been sent in, then we know something is up and we can act on it.

If you know someone was sent it. Email them/Twitter them and ask why it has not been put up yet. But dont be surprised if one party or the other has told it candidates to NOT send a response in. Heck look at the NDPs.. they are all only answering the same three questions.. I KNOW a couple of the candidates have more to say then that.

hmm... I might be inclined to start believing JTF here. They are twittering what I thought was NEW postings of candidate questionnaires. But they are actually twittering old ones... only of certain candidates too...

How come I don't care who wins?

Promises for everyone, but the Province has been governed pretty good by the previous General!

All I see is that McFadyne has the nicest suit 1 Does anyone think that he purchased it at a Moore's sale?

There are some real nutbars out there. Was just having a look at assiniboia candidates. Very slim pickings for sure - PC candidate has some skating credeintials from the 80s and then nothing. But this guy is hilarious, it is disappointing that parties don't check out their candidates:

Nope. She's a sucessful businesswoman, having been in realestate in AB. Don't sell her short.

"Wife and mother to Floyd and three daughters – twins Jordan and Kennedy, 6 and Alex, 4. After achieving success for Manitoba and Canada as a speed skater winning Olympic Medals over 5 Olympic Games, Susan has spent the last 10 years running a successful real estate brokerage and has been involved in many provincial and federal policy, working on honorary boards."

"I’m a strong believer that sport and fitness not only improve health, but they can actually cut crime in a community."

This link is not linked on the website of this thread. The main reference is to her own website which does not mention any business background:

http://www.votesusanauch.com/main.asp?cat_ID=15

So does she live and work in AB, or in Winnipeg? If she lives in AB and is familiar with issues there, maybe she should be a candidate in her hometown.

I find it weird how many of the candidates' own websites don't state how these people earn a living. Makes them appear like bums who are only in it for the money and pension.
