Selinger has his priorities wrong

"Forget about cutting taxes and becoming a more competitive province. Don’t worry about Manitoba’s inter-provincial migration losses. And who needs anything done about Manitoba’s soaring violent crime problem?

Because Manitobans, we’re about to become the Ham and Bacon Capital of Canada."

Once again, Broadbeck is right on the money. Anyone disagree?

It is so easy to criticize , but we the people elected a damn great NDP government.

The NDP have eliminated mosquitoes in Winnipeg, and with global warming , Winnipeg can expect at least 100,000 former Canadians to return here from Florida, to enjoy the 4 seasons, with no mosquitoes and temperatures that won't get below -8*.

Far be it for me to defend sillinger and the ndp but... Does government work in a vacuum? Should government spend all their resources on crime and do nothing about anything else until crime is solved? Should extra-provincial flight be addressed before any other initiative is looked at? What an absurd premise.

brodbeck is a third rate journalist on a second rate newspaper. His only mandate is to write sensationalistic crap the feeble-mined will embrace.

Broadbeck is wiser than what some think. He's not impressed with Selinger and he's only just started to call them out on their soon-to-be failed administration. I'm sure he'll condemn them again on other issues, not just crime and brain-drain.

His paper endorsed the Tories whilst the Freep endorsed the NDP. Most people who believe in crap would have voted NDP while those of us with a vision for prosperity would have voted Tory. They endorsed the right party.

I agree. And you won't see Brodbeck write an "opinion" column that is not based on fact or stats. The fact that the NDP will get away with a bacon priority rather than larger pressing needs is more of a statement on the Manitoba electorate than anything else. A state of denial simply means that reality will arrive with a bang - and that will be soon.

The rumour (I'm starting) is that Selinger will do away with the "Spirited Energy" thing and have our new motto be....

“We’re going to become the centre of excellence for ham and bacon...yay for us."

Broadbeck nails it almost always.

That was Selinger's attempt at humour. He just doesn't get it - humour or economic reality. What he does get - is that the majority of Manitoban's don't care one way or the other. With that being the case - we could save millions on elections and run the province with a volunteer board.
