AND its not just the government.

Lets say I am on Social Assistance..
Instead of spending money on food, I simply visit soup kitchens or get food hampers.

So,, my "WORK" ends up entailing that I spend 2-3 hours per day traveling to the soup kitchens and I can spend my money on whatever I want since my housing and utilities are paid for.

think about that for a minute... you need to only spend 2 or so hours per day working.. HELL I spend that much on the bus travelling to work... and for those 2 hours per day of work, you have more money to spend on whatever you want in a month then I do and I work 8 hours a day and my wife works too.
Your kids get free access to sport programs and free equipment, free Christmas presents, free jackets...

who is the idiot?

Ok guys, time to have a nother cup of coffee and read what you're writing.

In answer to the question who wants to be self supporting.... I DO!!

DeanK asks "who is the idiot?", well, we are for electing politicians who create this type of environment rather than leaders.

We all know that the welfare state is not sustainable. Besides the costs, it destroys the human spirit. God gave us the ability to reason and opposing thumbs for a reason, which separates us from the rest of the animals on the planet. We strive for independence. We all (well, most of us at least) want to achieve something in our lives, and it isn't necearrily wealth. What happened to having government that supports us in our achievements, not make us dependent on their handouts to sustain us.

I am so tired of the special interest groups complaining about their corner of the world and expecting the rest of us to pay for it through taxes. (Don't get me started about the recent coverage on the state of city run arenas.)

Today, I have to be better than I was yesterday, and tomorrow, I have to be better than I was today, and that doesn't happen by relying on government for my very existence. Its not about money, its about basic self respect.

end rant

Unfortunately, some people don't have parents that have instilled the same values in their children as your parents have done.

Having said that...do you know that we are not all born equal and that hard work doesn't always pay off.
